Default PCT Reconfiguration

So, various PCTs are set to merge, and I bet I'm not the only one worried about my job. I suspect clinical staff are safer, as the punters will always be there. But what about us in head office? There will be duplication of jobs left, right and centre. Already people are jostling for position and it's an ugly sight (esp amongst directors). We will be the cost efficiencies that the DoH keeps citing.

Do I get out now or wait and see what happens when it all shakes down?

Answers on a postcard to Boo.

It's the second time out of the four reorganisations I've been caught up in that I've been concerned about my job and I agree it's a difficult time. Everyone goes quiet. Everyone starts vying for position. The last one especially left a very bitter aftertaste and staff morale really low. Mainly because those who had hung on throughout were disappointed when they didn't get the jobs they thought they would. More left after than before or during the reorganisation. If it it's the same with the PCT reorganisation I will leave this time and go stack shelves in Tesco's. I'm sure nowhere else could have an atmosphere as bad as the one I experienced then and beside which, life is just too short!!!

Don't worry Boo; in 2 or 3 years the government and the DOH will be making the service 'locally responsive' again and reverting to PCTs (except they'll be called something slightly different so that everyone will think it's a new idea)
